A thermal analysis of polystyrene 1170 is presented, by the application of techniques standard termogravimetry (TGA) and modulated (MTGA), by the variation of the temperature between 25ºC and 600ºC . A study of the kinetic was madeed submitting the sample to several programs of heating for different rats. In the MTGA studies the sample was put under a ramp of modulated temperature. Applying both techniques through a law Arrhenius type, the activation energy was obtained and from these results the timelife of the study material were analyzed.
