En este trabajo se presenta el diseño y construcción del primer magnetómetro de muestra vibrante desarrollado en el país. Un magnetómetro de muestra vibrante mide el momento magnético de una muestra cuando ésta vibra en presencia de un campo magnético estático, a partir del cual se puede determinar la magnetización y la susceptibilidad magnética. Éste sobresale por su versatilidad, sencillez, permitiendo la obtención de resultados precisos y confiables, además es de bajo costo. Su operación se basa en la ley de inducción de Lenz. En el caso presente, el movimiento de la muestra se realiza a través de un transductor Mössbauer que permite el control de las vibraciones mecánicas de la muestra, de su amplitud y de su frecuencia por retroalimentación a un controlador PID. La sensibilidad del magnetómetro es suficiente para detectar una variación mínima en el momento magnético de 5 x 10-4 emu.

The design and construction of the first vibrating sample magnetometer developed in the country. is herein presented. A vibrating sample magnetometer measures the magnetic moment of a sample when such vibrates in the presence of a magnetic static field, from which it is possible to deter-mine the magnetization and the magnetic susceptibility. Said low-cost magnetometer is remark-able given its versatility and simplicity; allowing us to obtain precise and reliable results. Its op-eration is based on the Lenz law of induction. Currently, the movement of the sample is carried out by using a Mösbauer driver that allows the control of the mechanical vibration of the sample, of its amplitude, and its frequency by feedback to a PID controller. The sensibility of the magne-tometer is sufficient to detect a minimal change in the magnetic moment of 5 x 10-4 emu.
